The Midwest D-CFAR is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 funding cycle!

Timeline graphic representing key dates in the funding application cycle. Letters of intent are due October 31, 2025. Proposals are due December 10, 2025. Awardees will be notified on January 20, 2026. February 1, 2026 is the earliest start date.

Our Developmental Core will provide pilot funding of up to $20,000 for four or five innovative proposals that have the potential for extramural funding upon completion of the pilot study. D-CFAR investigators with primary appointments at WashU, SLU, and HSSU who are either early-stage investigators or more established researchers shifting their focus to HIV are eligible to apply.

We are seeking US-based proposals in basic, clinical, behavioral, substance use, and implementation science that align with NIH Office of AIDS Research research priorities:

  • Advance fundamental HIV science

  • Develop/assess novel HIV prevention, treatment, and cure interventions

  • Translate and implement HIV research to improve public health

  • Build workforce and infrastructure for sustainable HIV discovery

Key dates:

October 31 - Letter of intent deadline*

December 10 - Proposal deadline

January 20, 2026 - Notification of award

February 1, 2026 - Earliest start date

Pilot awards will be awarded for one year and amount to $20,000 in direct costs only. Indirect costs will not be awarded.
