Midwest D-CFAR leads session at USCHA

OCTOBER 7, 2025

Kneeshe Parkinson, PhD, coordinator of the Midwest D-CFAR’s Scientific Working Group, attended the 2025 U.S. Conference on HIV/AIDS (USCHA) held September 2–7 in Washington, D.C. The theme of the conference was Aging with HIV, and many presenters discussed the urgency of addressing the unique needs of older adults with HIV. Over 54% of people living with HIV in the U.S. are aged 50 and older, yet they often struggle to navigate health systems, policies, and services that fail to meet them where they are.

The conference brought together frontline health workers, government officials, policymakers, researchers, CFAR representatives, and community advocates to focus on capacity building, share innovative practices, and advance strategies to end the HIV epidemic.

(L-R) Dr. Parkinson, Tiye Link (Tennessee CFAR), George Kerr (DC CFAR and National CFAR CAB Coalition), and Alicia Diggs (UNC CFAR).

On September 4, Dr. Parkinson facilitated the powerful workshop “Feeling Knotty: Sexual Health Across the Lifespan,” creating space for meaningful dialogue on sexual health for individuals across all age groups.

USCHA 2025 also featured inspiring appearances by notable figures, including:

  • Earvin “Magic” Johnson, who continues to inspire through his advocacy and resilience.

  • Ann Nesby, who uplifted the community with her soulful performance.

  • 803 Fresh, bringing energy and artistry to the movement.

  • Jeanne White-Ginder, mother of Ryan White, who shared heartfelt reflections on legacy and advocacy.

The 2026 U.S. Conference on HIV/AIDS will be held September 17–20, 2026 at the Hilton Anaheim in Anaheim, California.
