Developmental Core Services

  • Scientific & Career Mentoring

  • Supplemental Funding

    • Investigator Pilot Awards for junior investigators seeking either K-series or their first R01 awards and senior investigators who have never been funded to work on HIV before who can contribute to interdisciplinary research.

    • Partner Pilot Awards to support funding proposals that are co-led by an academic and an external partner.

    • D-CFAR JIT Enhancement Funds that supplement pilot funding obtained from other intramural sources.

Advanced Technology Core Services

  • Consultation Services Unit (CSU): The CSU works to catalyze innovative research ideas on basic and translational HIV research to help investigators plan, design, and execute research studies. The consultation service covers study design, assay development, biosafety, and grant proposals.

  • Virology Research Unit (VRU): The VRU works to reduce barriers to specialized HIV facilities and technologies to accelerate research.

  • Technology Accessibility Unit (TAU): The TAU is accelerating access to key advanced technologies for preclinical and clinical HIV-focused basic immunology, vaccine, and drug discovery research.

Clinical Science Core Services

  • “One-Stop-Shop” Consultation: Guidance for a variety of foundational clinical research practices, including study coordination, protocol development, ethical and regulatory approval, and access to clinical trial unit facilities. The CSC also provides analytical, biostatistical, data management, and geospatial support, including cohort analysis, survival analysis, repeated measured longitudinal data, and multi-state and trajectory modeling.

Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) Science Core

  • Consultation: Scientific guidance on crucial concepts in D&I (e.g., implementation strategies, outcomes, and frameworks) to help investigators develop rigorous and relevant research and investigator-centered guidance to make use of rich but widely distributed D&I resources in our academic ecosystem.
