Francesco Simonetti, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine, Johns Hopkins University
Presentation: Targeting HIV-1 viremia during therapy to improve clinical outcome and perturb HIV persistence
This event is happening virtually on Zoom.
Speaker bio:
Dr. Simonetti is an Assistant Professor in Medicine in the Virus Immunity and Pathogenesis Center at Johns Hopkins University. He completed his clinical training in Infectious Diseases at the University of Milan in Italy. During his fellowship, he worked at the NCI HIV Dynamics and Replication Program, where he helped to uncover the role of viral integration and cell proliferation in HIV persistence. His translational approach combines patient-centered observations and novel molecular assays to investigate HIV-host interactions with the goal of improving our understanding of HIV persistence and the clinical outcome of people living with HIV.
